March Activities

The focus this month is on writing strong middles. Students sometimes struggle with developing the plot of the story beyond the problem. In this month stories will be analyzed and students will focus in their own writing of adding in details and descriptions that build better plots in their stories. Learning about how persuasive writing is used to make change in society as well as an advertising technique. Students will move from week to week with focus on these strategies to further develop their reading and writing skills. Additional mini lessons will focus on understanding more about science fiction, newspapers, and fake news.

With a focus on developing perseverance students will learn more about how children can persevere and make a difference.

In each package, there are 3 different texts that can be used for shared, guided or independent reading. Each text is provided at three different reading levels from grade 3-6. With this resource, you can assign the same story for many different students who are all reading at different levels.
