Does the thought of assessing inquiry keep you up at night?

I totally get that! There is a lot to prepare!

You might feel like you have a lot of extra work during this time because you have neglected some papers or you feel like you need to justify the marks you give by finding evidence.

The good news is that you actually don’t need to be overwhelmed by assessment!

In this episode, I am talking all about how you can assess inquiry effectively without doubling or tripling your workload.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

how to assess inquiry

  • Using our professional judgment to determine a student’s level of understating
  • The triangulation of data
  • Opportunities to replace products with observation and conversation
  • Strategies I use to collect data
  • Why you don’t always need a product
  • Tools you can use to track digitally versus on paper
  • Student-teacher conferences
  • Why differentiating activities is important

I love using inquiry because it allows us to have far more opportunities for assessment under the umbrellas of observation and conversation.

I hope that the strategies I shared in this episode have taken some of the pressure and worry out of assessing inquiry in your classroom. There are so many ways that you can make this easier for yourself and better for your students!
